EKHA prepares for landmark virtual meeting on innovation in renal replacement therapy

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is described by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as “the most neglected chronic disease”. The wait continues for ground-breaking innovations that will bring about significant improvements for the quality of life of kidney patients, as dialysis treatment is still costly and has poor outcomes. Coordination and collaboration is the only answer to break this deadlock.

On Tuesday, 9 June 2020, EKHA will organise a webinar with its members, the Dutch Kidney Foundation and ERA-EDTA, to address the lack of progress towards much-needed innovations in renal replacement therapy and to call for joint efforts for better outcomes for patients in Europe.  Keynote speakers will include Prof. Raymond Vanholder (EKHA President), Murray Sheldon (USA Food and Drug Administration – FDA) Anna Prokupkova (ECL) and Clemens van Blitterswijk (Maastricht University). The webinar will feature a video address from the Chair of the MEP Group for Kidney Health, Ms Hilde Vautmans, as well as a special video of patients telling their stories.

Organised as a side meeting of the 57th (virtual) Congress of the ERA-EDTA, the webinar will take place from 14:30 to 17:00 (CEST, UTC+2).
