On the eve of World Kidney Day, the European Kidney Health Alliance (EKHA) and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Hilde Vautmans (Chair of the MEP Group for Kidney Health) are pleased to invite you to join the 2020 European Kidney Forum webinar “A Shared Vision for Improving Organ Donation and Transplantation Beyond 2020”, hosted by the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU. The online meeting will take place on Wednesday, 11 March 2020 from 15:00 to 17:00 (CET).
The initial meeting scheduled for 3 March in the European Parliament in Brussels had to be cancelled upon the decision of the Parliament to limit access to its premises as a precautionary measure to counter the current Coronavirus disease outbreak. As the situation is unfortunately not expected to improve in the near future, and considering the policy objective of feeding the outcomes of this multi-stakeholder panel discussion into the Croatian Presidency Ministerial Conference on organ donation and transplantation; the European Kidney Health Alliance has decided to reschedule the Forum in the form of a webinar.
The webinar will build on the success of the EKHA-led 2019 Joint Statement on Improving Organ Donation and Transplantation as well as on the renewed political momentum around organ donation and transplantation. The panel discussion will explore current challenges and barriers in the field, including how to better inform patients, optimise the organisation of national programmes, ensure sustainable funding, tackle inequalities and increase the availability and quality of data. It will gather EU and national policy-makers, National Competent Authorities for organ donation and transplantation, medical societies as well as patient and health organisations.
