A new EKHA article raises awareness of the environmental burden of nephrology, and the need for a change in mentality. One of the most important hurdles for the facilitation of green nephrology is the lack of awareness among the general public and policy makers of the ecological burden of nephrology. Advocacy efforts by all stakeholders are needed to increase the knowledge of the humanistic, economical, and social burden of kidney disease. Profound shifts in the mentality surrounding kidney care are necessary to overcome the current status quo and finding planet-friendly solutions.
