ESOT Action Day Focuses on Political Dimension of Transplantation

On 28 April, EKHA joined the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) in celebrating its Action Day. This year’s Action Day’s theme centred around inequalities in organ transplantation and on opportunities for transforming the organ transplantation landscape in Europe during the 2024-2029 period.

ESOT’s recently released manifesto, “Tackling Inequalities in Organ Transplantation: A Pathway Forward”, draws attention to widespread inequalities across the organ transplantation pathway, including inequalities related to treatment access, healthcare professional knowledge, reporting and data collection, and patient awareness. The manifesto outlines actions that advance equitable access to transplantation and aligns with EKHA’s Kidney Manifesto, which calls for the implementation of a 2nd EU Action Plan on Organ Donation and Transplantation.
