Content
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is one of the most common and deadly chronic illnesses, yet it receives little political attention despite its major human, economic, and environmental impact. This is largely due to low awareness from the general public and policymakers. Investment for innovative solutions reducing the burden of CKD has up to now been minimal, and some therapeutic options have barely evolved in decades.

To address this, the European Kidney Health Alliance (EKHA) was founded in 2007 by organizations with an interest in kidney health and disease. EKHA advocates for better kidney care policies at the EU and national levels. Its mission: is to ensure timely, affordable, and effective treatment for all people who are affected by kidney disease and to forestall CKD from happening through education, screening, prevention and therapeutic intervention.

EKHA brings together patients, physicians, nurses, scientists, and foundations and provides authoritative advice to policymakers, on all aspects of kidney disease. As EKHA, we are committed to sensitising the EU institutions to the importance of kidney health and ensuring that they assist national governments in listening to the needs of the European renal/kidney community.
